MILLEDEGVILLE, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University softball team won the first game of the three game midweek series defeating Georgia College and State 7-1 on Monday afternoon.

After two scoreless innings the Hurricanes found their offense in the third inning thanks to a Lacey Rutledge RBI double that scored Morgan Mullin. Katelyn Wood got in on the action hitting an RBI single scoring Rutledge.

GSW went on scoring two more runs in the following two innings they broke the game open in the seventh collecting three runs and three hits with Duffey being the focal point she recorded a two-run double that gave the Canes a 7-0 lead. 

Georgia College scored a run in the final inning but GSW had the game wrapped up Rutledge finished the game 3-for-3 with a walk and scored two runs. 

Pitcher Savanna Bradford earned her 17th win pitching a complete game and allowing one run on seven hits.

GSW will conclude the series with Georgia College in a double header tomorrow starting at 2:00 p.m.
