Five Lady Hurricanes Named PBC All-Conference

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Peach Belt Conference released its 2023 All-Conference teams on Thursday morning and Georgia Southwestern earned a program-best five honorees. Zoe Willis was named the Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Third baseman Katelyn Wood was an All-PBC First Team selection. Pitcher Savana Bradford, shortstop Lacey Rutledge and first baseman Isabel Marcotte earned All-PBC Second Team honors. 

Willis had one of the greatest seasons any PBC player has ever had. A junior second baseman and pitcher from Pine Mountain, Ga., she currently leads NCAA Division II with 23 home runs on the season and a .986 slugging percentage. Her 23 home runs is the second-highest single-season total in league history and is only three short of the record heading into the postseason. Willis also leads the conference in RBIs (61), runs scored (61) and is second in on-base percentage and third in batting average. In the circle she is 14-3 with a 2.54 ERA in 104.2 innings of work with 99 strikeouts. Last season, she became the first Hurricane to ever be named the PBC Player of the Year; she now becomes the first back-to-back Player of the Year and the fourth PBC player ever.

Katelyn Wood was also named first team all conference the senior third basemen from Tallahassee, Fla. finished the regular season hitting a team high .452 as well as finishing second with 54 RBIs, and a .729 slugging percentage.

Bradford a sophomore from Colquitt, Ga. led the Hurricanes in wins (17), strikeouts (131) and innings pitched (143.1) while pitching two shutouts with a 2.49 ERA.

Marcotte a sophomore first baseman from Wichita, Kan. finished the season with a .315 average finished second in home runs (15), and third in RBIs (45) and had 301 put outs.

Rutledge a sophomore shortstop from Monticello, Ga finished third in average (.341), third in hits (61), second in stolen bases (11) she also had 80 putouts and 90 assists.
