The Georgia Southwestern Lady 'Canes have gone from trying to make history to determining how much history they will make as they continue to improve on their program-best start to the 2011-12 season. The Lady 'Canes improved their record to 6-0 to start the 2011-12 season by defeating the Lady Rams of Albany State University by a score of 78-69. It was the first game of a back-to-back at Peach Belt/SIAC Challenge on the campus of Columbus State University.

Forward Adrian Randall recorded her third double-double of the young season with her 23 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks against Albany State. It was her third game of the season with four blocks as well for the Brooklyn native. She was supported by fellow 20-point scorer Terra Branch. Branch went for 21 points, four rebounds and two assists.

While GSW struggled shooting (39.2% from the field) (20% from beyond the arc) they were solid at the free throw line converting 19 of their 25 attempts (76.0%). Defensively the Hurricanes hounded the Rams forcing 21 turnovers, which included 8 GSW steals and 6 GSW blocks as they grounded the Albany State aerial attack to 31.6% shooting on the night.

Coach Britsky and company led 41-32 at halftime thanks to junior Adrian Randall's second first-half double-double of 13 points and ten rebounds on an efficient six of nine shooting from the field. She was supported by senior Terra Branch who had 12 points in the half.

As a team, GSW won the rebounding battle (27-22) in the first half and forced Albany State into 13 turnovers and 40.8% shooting for the half.

Albany State's 69 total points was due in large part to their three players scoring in double digits. Symone Wilkerson and April Thomas finished the evening with 18 points each with Wilkerson also recording nine rebounds and six assists. Breanna Fields and her 14 points was the third of ASU's trio of double-digit scorers.

GSW will look to make it to 7-0 against the Fort Valley State Lady Wildcats tomorrow at 3 p.m.
