FLORENCE, S.C - After setting a career scoring high in GSW's 97-89 home victory against Young Harris, Danisha Green followed up with an even more impressive outing Saturday afternoon.

The sophomore guard poured in 29 points, on a scorching 11 of 13 shooting, but Francis Marion proved to be too much for the Lady 'Canes as they held on and perserved their home court, 78-73, Saturday afternoon in FMU's Smith University Center.

The scoring started early for Green as she tallied six of GSW's first ten points as the Lady 'Canes raced out to an early 10-5 lead six minutes into the game.

That proved to be their biggest lead of the contest however as FMU's offense started to roll behind a strong performance by the Patriot supporting cast.

FMU's bench scored 27 of Francis Marion's 43 first-half points as the Patriots held a commanding 43-28 lead going into halftime. 

In the second, led by Green's scoring efforts, the Lady 'Canes came back to tighten up the contest. 

Green's layup with eight minutes left brought GSW within five points at 57-52.

However, the Patriots seem to have an answer to every run GSW made.

Southwestern got within three points two different times in game's final two minutes, but FMU converted at the freethrow line to subdue the surging Hurricanes.

In addtion to Green, two other Lady 'Canes finished in double figures.

Freshman forward Jasmine McSwain finished with 10 points and five rebounds and guard Shaniece Sheffield followed up her 20 point outing against Young Harris by notching 12 points, eight in the second half, to go along with four rebounds.

Green's 29 points is the most points scored by a Lady 'Cane since January 1, 2012, when former Southwestern guard Terra Branch set a GSW NCAA-era single game scoring record when she notched 30 points against Francis Marion.

Bench points proved to be the difference in the contest as FMU's reserves outscored GSW's bench 48-16.

The reserves were led by Francis Marion's Kim Roach.

The junior guard had a career performance finishing with a double-double (17 points, 12 rebounds) on the afternoon.

Starting guard Camille Dash, who battled foul trouble, finished with 14 points in just 17 minutes of action for the Patriots who improved to 7-5 on the season (1-4 PBC).

Georgia Southwestern falls to 3-9 on the year (1-4 PBC).

Southwestern continues its two-game road trip as they travel to UNC Pembroke tomorrow for a 1:30 p.m. Sunday matinee.
