DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Lady Hurricanes hung tight with the North Georgia Saints Thursday evening in Memorial Hall but a game deciding North Georgia run to close the first half broke the game open as the Saints went on to breeze past Georgia Southwestern, 71-42.
A Briana Walker layup brought Southwestern to within a poin, 23-21, with six minutes remaining in the first half, but that's the closest the Blue & Gold got as North Georgia's Mimi Hill simply took over the game.
The 6-foot-3 forward simply dominated the rest of the half as she scored 12 out of the Saints' next 19 points as North Georgia went on a dominating 19-3 run to take a commanding 42-25 advantage heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady 'Canes couldn't find the shooting touch as GSW shot only 14 percent (5-of-35) and succumbed to the Saints, dropping their record to 3-14 (1-9, PBC).
