No. 2 Clayton State Rolls Past Georgia Southwestern

MORROW, Ga.- Georgia Southwestern knew they had a daunting task ahead of them as the struggling Lady 'Canes traveled to Clayton State Saturday evening to take on the undefeated and second-ranked Lakers.

Clayton State showed why they are the lone Division II undefeated team left as the Lakers cruised past GSW, 91-43.

Clayton State wasted no time proving their dominance as the Lakers raced out to an early 15-2 advantage five minutes into the game on their way to holding a demanding 26-point advantage heading into intermission.

The second half followed in much of the same fashion as Clayton State led by as many as 40 points coasting to an easy victory.

Senior forward Briana Walker led the Lady 'Canes with 11 points and eight rebounds as a strong defensive effort by the Lakers held GSW (3-22, 1-17 PBC) to just 21 percent (14-of-67) shooting on the game.

Clayton State (25-0, 18-0 PBC) shot a blistering 53 percent from the field led by senior Drameka Griggs who chipped in 21 points, five assists and four steals for the Lakers.

GSW will be back in action Saturday, Mar. 2, for the season finale against North Georgia at 5:30 p.m. at the Storm Dome.
