All-Army Team Captures Win Over Lady 'Canes

AMERICUS, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team hosted the All-Army Team out of Fort Benning in an exhibition game on Saturday night in the Storm Dome.

The All-Army Team took an early lead scoring the first six points of the game. Jasmine McSwain and Khayla Owens made back to back baskets for GSW to cut the lead to two points. The All-Army Team kept the advantage and ended the first quarter up by 10 and by half time had a 19 point edge.

The All-Army Team kept up their attack in the second half and lead by 24 point after the third quarter.

The Lady 'Canes out scored the All-Army Team in the fourth but it wasn't enough to catch up and lost 74-51.

McSwain had 15 points for the Lady 'Canes including three 3-pointers. Kenyona Armstrong had nine points, making three of four free throws and two 3-pointers. Owens scored 8 points and Yvonna Dunkley led GSW with 6 rebounds.

The Lady 'Canes are on the road this weekend for the Peach Belt/ SIAC Challenge at Columbus State. They play Albany State Friday and Fort Valley State Saturday.
