MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball endured a 70-41 loss to Georgia College Saturday afternoon inside Centennial Center.

GSW is now 11-7 overall and 6-5 in the Peach Belt Conference while Georgia College improved to 12-5 and 6-4 in the PBC.

Georgia College held GSW to six points in the first quarter, out scoring them by seven.

The Lady Hurricanes dug deep in the second quarter tripling their first quarter score. Aleah Holden made two free throws to start the second and Shanya Jones put in a layup to trail by three. Gabby Figgers closed the gap to two points with a 3-pointer with 6:21 left in the second.

Georgia College went on a six point run before Chanice Whitton made a layup with 53 seconds to go. The Bobcats put in a 3-pointer to end the quarter and head into halftime up 33-24.

The Bobcats went on a ten point run three minutes into the third quarter to lead 45-27. Georgia College out-scored GSW 17-7 in the third and were up 50-31 heading into the final quarter.

The beginning of the fourth quarter was even, each team matching basket for basket until Georgia College went on a seven point run to lead 64-37 with five minutes left.

The Bobcats out-scored GSW 6-5 in the remaining minutes and took a 29 point victory.

Brittany Grant led GSW with 10 points and Holden had a team high of six rebounds.

The Lady Hurricanes are home Monday to host Columbus State at 5:30 p.m.
