NEWBERRY, S.C. -- The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team defeated host Newberry College by 18 points Saturday afternoon. The Lady Canes were carried by a dominant first-half performance that the Newberry College Wolves could never find their way back into the game. The Lady Canes split up the scoring in the first half having eight different players score forcing 13 turnovers on the defensive end.
The second half was more of a slugfest as GSW outscored the Wolves by just two in the third quarter and were outscored by one in the second half. The Lady Canes were spread out scoring-wise with four different players scoring double digits. Defensively is where the Lady Canes shined having 11 steals and forcing 23 turnovers overall.
The Lady Canes will look to defend home court Monday night against Middle Georgia State at 7 p.m.
