Lady Canes Suffer First Defeat of the Season

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team lost to the Valdosta State University Blazers for their first defeat of the season. The 23rd ranked Blazers were lights out from beyond the arc making ten threes on 40% shooting.

The game was a back and forth contest with the Blazers holding a small lead for the majority of the game. A cold start for the Lady Canes in the 4th quarter was too much to recover from as the Blazers were able to hold on from there despite a comeback attempt by the Lady Canes.

Jacquelyn Levay kept the Lady Canes in it and led the comeback attempt, leading the team with 18 points. Those 18 points were just not enough to keep the Lady Canes undefeated season alive.

They'll look to bounce back at home against Albany State for their second matchup with the Golden Rams this season.
