Lady Canes Claw Their Way Back in Comeback Win

COLUMBUS, Ga. --The Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team defeated Columbus State for their seventh conference win of the season and their 15th overall. It was a come-from-behind victory with the Lady Canes trailing by 11 at one point in the first half. Defensively, the Lady Canes struggled by allowing 42 first-half points, a season-high. At five minutes left in the second quarter, the Lady Canes were facing their largest deficit of the game down 11 points late in the first half. GSW was able to pull it within five after a Jolicia Williams three-pointer, a quick Columbus State bucket put the game at a seven-point halftime deficit for the Lady Canes.

In the second half, the Lady Canes came alive on defense holding the Cougars to just 12 points in the third quarter after allowing 21 points in both the first and second quarter. After the third quarter, the Lady Canes had cut down the lead to five with ten minutes left in the game. GSW finally put it all together in the fourth quarter starting the fourth quarter with an 18-5 run and breaking the game wide open. The Lady Canes after trailing for the majority of the game coasted to a double-digit road win.

The Lady Canes will face Young Harris for the second time this week when they head on the road.
