Langley Drops 20, Leads GSW to Convincing Road Win

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – There was no Thanksgiving hangover for the Georgia Southwestern women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in a 95-70 win at Tusculum University. The Lady Hurricanes used a 20-0 run in the second quarter to pull away early from the Pioneers and led by as many as 35 points to improve their record to 3-1 this season.

Kayla Langley was perfect from the floor, connecting on all eight of her shot attempts, to lead GSW with 20 points in only 21 minutes of action. Jashanti Simmons drained 7 of 10 shots along with all four of her free throw attempts to finish with 18 points. Lexi McCully added 17 points.

  • GSW scored on 57.1 percent of its possessions
  • The Lady Hurricanes held Tusculum scoreless for a stretch of five minutes near the end of the second quarter during the 20-0 run 
  • It was Langley's eighth 20-plus scoring night of her career, putting her four back of the all-time leader Ava Jones
  • Simmons has scored in double figures in two of the last three games and hit on 69.6 percent of her shot attempts during that stretch
  • Third-highest point total by the Lady Hurricanes (95) against a NCAA Division II opponent in program history
  • Tusculum, a member of the South Atlantic Conference, had 20 wins last season
