Lucke Shuts Out Flagler

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern women's soccer freshman goalkeeper Vanna Lucke put an end to drought that extended almost three years for the Lady Hurricanes when she delivered a shutout in a 0-0 tie against Flagler College on Wednesday afternoon at Hurricane Field. It marks the first shutout and result in conference play for GSW since the squad defeated Flagler, 1-0, on Oct. 27, 2010.

The visiting Saints controlled the pace and possession battle most of the match, but Lucke would not allow the decisive score as she saved four shots in the first half, six in the second period and a pair in the final overtime session.

Flagler (4-4-1, 1-1-1 PBC) finished with a 14-3 shots on goal advantage and 12-1 margin in corner kicks.

Kaeta Choquette stopped three for Flagler.

Southwestern (0-8-1, 0-2-1 PBC) returns to the pitch on Saturday for a 5:30 p.m. match at USC Aiken.
