Unable To Reel In Sailfish

AMERICUS - The season finale for the Georgia Southwestern women's soccer team went well for about 41 minutes on Sunday afternoon before Palm Beach Atlantic scored the first goal of the match and things went quickly awry for the Lady Hurricanes in a 7-0 loss at Hurricane Field.

Palm Beach Atlantic (7-6-2) brought its goalkeeper, Allison Fox, up to punch in a penalty kick less than a minute after the opening score and the Sailfish led 2-0 at the halftime break.

PBA punched in five goals over the final 45 minutes, including two less than 10 minutes into the second stanza.

Kierstyn Harrington scored two goals in the contest - both coming in the second half with one of them a converted penalty kick - to lead the Sailfish.

PBA finished with a 14-3 shots on goal advantage and 11-1 margin in corner kicks.

Southwestern's offensive woes continued in the finale. The Lady Hurricanes were shut out in their final 14 matches and ended the year with a program-low two goals.

GSW (0-17-1) keeper Vanna Lucke saved five shots before making way for Kendal Baskin with 31:26 remaining in the match. Baskin saved two.

Fox saved three for PBA.
