Rezaee Scores First Collegiate Career Goal, Lady Canes lose by 2

Spartanburg, S.C- Georgia Southwestern Lady Canes were away to take on Converse College Saturday night.

The Lady Canes were able to hold of the Valkyries for most of the first half until a shot made its way into the goal at the 26:58 mark. Sophmore goaltender Chelsee Wright was able to make a few saves before another shot made its way past her at the 32:32 mark making the score 2-0. The rest of the first half the Lady Canes defense was spot on not letting anything past them.

GSW went into the second half with a tougher attack. Freshmen Neeli Fortson took control of the ball and took a hard shot that was saved by the Valkyries goaltender. One minute later Shelbi Walker took a shot that looked like it was about to go in but hit the post instead. Another minute later Sholeh Rezaee took GSWs third shot in two minutes which was saved.

After two corner kicks Rezaee socred her first colleiate career goal and GSW's first of the game off a penalty kick at the 58:14 mark making the socre 2-1.

The Valkyries were able to put one more shot past GSW off a free kick to make the score 3-1 at the 76:23 mark. The Lady Canes were able to hold off the Valkyries the rest of the second half to keep the score low.

GSW held their own with 10 shots to Converse's 19. Chelsee Wright recorded 5 saves to the Valkyries 2.

The Lady Canes are back on the road October 1st to face off against Flagler.
