Lady Canes continue with best start in Program History

AMERICUS, Ga. — The Lady Hurricanes improve to 3-0 under first-year head coach Kerry Edwards, the best start in Program History. Georgia Southwestern battled all night in a tough and competitive environment against a hard-nose Spring Hill College team.

Jordan Plewke gave GSW the lead in the 13th minute while Grace O'Shaughnessy and the defense kept SHC scoreless. The second half was filled with an intense back and forth, neither side adding to the scoreboard until Laura Duran Blanco one-touch passed it to an open Lauren Ford who put it into the back of the net giving the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead with just 10 minutes left in the game.

SHC would not quit and 3 minutes later Carson Reeves, on a free kick, put one past Grace O'Shaughnessy making the game 2-1 with just 7 minutes left and signaling the end of GSW's shutout streak that lasted 263 minutes of game-time. The Hurricanes closed the game out and pulled out a close one in Americus.
