Lady 'Canes top Albany State, 5-4

The Georgia Southwestern women’s tennis team completed the home portion of its 2010 season with a 5-4 victory over Albany State on Friday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. 

GSW trailed 2-1 after doubles play, with the lone Lady 'Canes win coming at No. 1 where Leady Cuellar and Lauren Grogan defeated Reanah Kellogg and Kristina Jackson, 8-1.

In singles, GSW picked up wins at Nos. 1, 3, 5 and 6.

Cuellar improved to 15-10 overall at the No. 1 position this spring with a 6-0, 6-0 win against Dominique Lambert. Grogan took care of business at No. 3 with 6-0, 6-0 victory over Jackson. Melinda Vansant was victorious at No. 5, 6-0, 6-0 against Brittany White. Katie Adamson won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 over Jasmine Williams.

Southwestern wraps up the 2010 campaign with 2 p.m. match Saturday (4/10) at Fort Valley State.
