PEMBROKE, N.C. - The Georgia Southwestern women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 setback on Monday afternoon against the UNC Pembroke at the Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Lady Hurricanes fall to 5-9 overall and 1-7 in the Peach Belt Conference. UNC Pembroke improved to 9-6 overall and 2-6 in PBC play.

Victoria Ondo picked up both victories for GSW. Ondo teamed up with Carly Cangelosi to win 8-2 at No. 1 doubles over the UNCP pair of Hannah Herlocker and Shelby Bickel. Ondo proceeded to rattle off a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 3 singles.

The Lady Hurricanes had a chance for an early win at No. 3 doubles, but Anna Kate Shaw and Kalie Douberly lost to Monica Espitia and Morgan Sheehan, 8-6.

In singles action, No. 2 Cangelosi and No. 3 Ginny Jones won their opening sets before eventually suffering third-set tiebreaker defeats. 

Southwestern returns home to host Columbus State on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
