Lifetime member of the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame

Honorary member of Georgia Sheriff's Youth Home

Received International Heroic Award from the Kiwanis

International for saving 6 children and their 2 house parents

in the flood, July 1994 (First Sumter County citizen to receive an International Award)

1996 Presented the Cellular One Telecommunications Industry's VITA award by movie and television actor William Shatner, at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C., for his rescue of eight people during the 500 Year Flood in 1994
