Bats Silenced In Loss To Auburn Montgomery

AMERICUS, Ga. -  The Georgia Southwestern State University baseball team was held to three hits in a 7-0 loss to Auburn University at Montgomery on Tuesday evening at Hurricane Stadium.

GSW suffered its first loss of the season (2-1) while AUM won its third straight game to improve to 3-1.

How It Happened: Matt Zielonko delivered all the offense the Warhawks would need with a one-out, solo home run to left field in the fourth inning for the first run of the ballgame. AUM followed the blast with three consecutive singles to go ahead 2-0.

Hayden Friesen singled in a run in the seventh inning and the Warhawks added four more runs in the ninth to close out the scoring.

Stewart Tyler (0-1) took the loss in his first start for the Hurricanes. Tyler threw 3 1/3 innings, allowed four hits and two runs, walked two and struck out four. 

AUM starting pitcher Brett Lightsey silenced GSW for 4 2/3 innings before stepping aside for Ryan Burkett (1-0). Lightsey allowed two hits, struck out three and did not walk a batter. Burkett walked one and struck out two over his two innings on the mound.

Who Stood Out: Josh Logan went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and a walk for the Hurricanes. A.J. Hayes threw 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
