Young Harris Takes Series Opener

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern baseball dropped their third consecutive game as they were defeated 8-1 by Young Harris College on Friday afternoon. 

The Hurricanes got into trouble early when they gave up three hits on two runs in the bottom of the second inning. 

The floodgates opened even more for Young Harris scoring two more runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings. 

Young Harris pulled away in the bottom of the eighth scoring four runs on three hits to put the game away for the Mountain Lions.

Three Hurricanes players recorded multiple hits Jake Blinstrub went 2-for-4 and a double Cory Lee and Chris Patterson also recorded two hits in four at-bats. 

Miles Hartsfield recorded the only run for the Canes on a fielder's choice grounder. 

Nick McCollum will fall to (2-1) on the season giving up 11 hits and seven earned runs.

GSW will fall to (9-7, 6-4) on the season next up they will be staying on the road to complete a daytime doubleheader with conference rival Young Harris College (15-6, 7-3). First pitch 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Zell B. Miller Field.
