Rags to Riches for 6th Straight Win

AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern baseball team won their fifth straight game defeating Georgia College and State, 6-5, Friday evening at Hurricane Stadium.

GSW drew first blood scoring a run in the first inning on a Kalvin Alexander rbi single that scored  Jake Blinstrub

Through the first six innings, GSW scored all six of their runs and led the game 6-0 going into the top of the sixth inning.

Georgia College would not go down easy the Bobcats scored three runs in the sixth inning one of the hits was a two-run home run the Cats shrunk the GSW lead. 

Georgia College went on to score two more runs and nearly tied the game in the top of the ninth but the Canes were able to hold off the attack and close the game out with a win.

Reid Rgasdale had an unbelievable game and recorded four hits in his five at-bats which is a career-high, and Kalvin Alexander added a home run.

Nick McCollum earned his fourth win of the season and improved his record to 4-1, Carsen Plumadore earns his first save of the season.

GSW will stay home to host Peach Belt Conference rival Georgia College and State University as Alumni weekend continues first pitch 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
