PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The No. 11 Georgia Southwestern men's golf team posted a 25-over-par 313 in the final round of the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship at PGA National on Wednesday to remain in fourth place out of 16 teams and secure the fourth seed in the national quarterfinals as the event moves to match play competition.

Scores were high across the field once again as The Champion course proved extremely challenging with gusty winds throughout the day. The University of Indianapolis held on to the top spot after posting a 19-over-par in the final round to finish 18 shots overall ahead of second place Arkansas Tech University and 24 strokes in front of the Hurricanes.

Jack Tharrington led the way for GSW in Round 3 with a 5-over-par 77. Tharrington moved up six spots on the leaderboard to tie for 15th place with teammates Chase McLain and Saksit Jairak, nine strokes off the lead. Tharrington eagled the 10th hole. McLain and Jairak both carded scores of 78 on Wednesday. Jaxson Daskalos tied for 45th after posting an 81 and Simon Estrada moved up 12 spots to 64th after his final round 80. 

As the No. 4 seed, the Hurricanes face fifth-seeded Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday beginning at 7:20 a.m. The format is medal match play. There will be five head-to-head individual matches. Each match is scored by the cumulative number of strokes won by rather than the number of holes won. So, for instance, "up 3" means that the player is up by 3 strokes, not 3 holes. The player up by the most strokes after 18 holes wins the match. Each match counts as a point (best-of-five) towards deciding who advances to the Final Four.
