PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- The fifth-ranked Georgia Southwestern men's golf team regrouped on Monday afternoon, following its struggles in the morning's opening round at the NCAA National Preview, to shoot the low team score of Round 2 with a 281 (-3) and climb six spots in the overall standings. The event was cut short due to inclement weather on Tuesday and GSW finished sixth out of 14 of the top programs in NCAA Division II with a 14-over par. The event, played on The Champion course, a par-71, 6,995-yard layout at PGA National Resort, featured 10 programs ranked in the Top 25 of NCAA Division II according to the latest NCAA Division II Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll.

Joao Costa led the Hurricanes with rounds of 71 and 73 to finish tied for 18th place in the 75-player field. Costa shot the Hurricanes low round (even par) to open the day capped by a birdie, eagle finish. Davis Aaron and Nicolas Escobar excelled in the afternoon with each firing a 69. Aaron finished the day at 4-over, moving up 32 spots in the individual standings to finish tied for 26th. Escobar climbed 25 spots to tie for 49th. Sam Brown added a 70 in the afternoon, moved up 21 spots to tie for 44th along with teammate Mateo Quiroga.

The top-ranked team in the country, Colorado Christian University, won the event with a 7-under par. Sungyeop Cho from Colorado Christian won the individual title with a 9-under 133, three strokes ahead of the runner-up Raines Holmes from Palm Beach Atlantic University.

GSW returns home to host the Hurricane Invitational at Doublegate Country Club in Albany on Oct. 7.
