MACON, Ga. — The Georgia Southwestern State University cross country teams took to the Georgia Premier Cross Country Course at the Julius Johnson Invitational hosted by Mercer University on Saturday morning. Trey Reid led the Hurricanes by posting the second-fastest 8K time in program history and several runners clocked personal-best times as both the men and women finished 13th of 14 schools in their races.

Reid led the Hurricanes by crossing the line in 31:50.20, to take 72nd place out of 108 runners. Reid's time clocked in as the second-fastest in the six years of GSW's program history and he now holds the second and fourth fastest times. Reid, Edwin Gonzalez, Spencer Rose and Gerona Williams all ran personal-best times.
The host, NCAA Division I member Mercer University, won the team title with 20 overall points, 43 ahead of runner-up Georgia College (63). The Hurricanes finished with 359 points, four points behind 12th place Georgia Military College.
Brian Kemei from Morehouse College crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 24:04.19.

Emma Morrow paced the Lady Hurricanes by completing the 5K course in 22:35.84, to take 54th place out of 110 runners. Morrow, Melissa Duarte, Analiese Bevans and Emmarae Smith all ran personal-best times.
The host, Mercer University, won the team title with 15 overall points, 44 ahead of runner-up Georgia College (59). The Hurricanes finished with 327 points, one point behind 12th place Fort Valley State.
Reagan Cooke from Mercer crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 17:49.1.
