AMERICUS Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern softball team defeated the Fort Valley State Wildcats in a run rule midweek victory on Wednesday night. The Wildcats scored the first run of the game after a leadoff double came into to score. It was all Lady Canes from there on as they scored 10 straight to finish the game in five innings. The five-inning win was timed perfectly as moments after the final out, both teams were forced into a weather delay, jeopardizing the beginning of a second game being played. The second game would eventually be called due to weather. Lady Canes will next take on Georgia College in their conference home opener at Lady Canes Field.
