Get Your Brooms Canes Complete Sweep of Flagler

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern softball complete the three-game series sweep of conference foe Flagler College at Lady Hurricanes Field Saturday.

Game 1 W, 3-2

GSW got the scoring going early getting two hits and scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Flagler tied the game in the top of the third inning collecting two hits on a two run Home run. The game then became a pitchers duel and remained tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Canes grabbed two hits the final play of the game Lacey Rutledege laid down a walk-off bunt single that scored Jacie Johns from third base and gave the Canes the win.

Izzy Marcotte was one of two Canes that recorded multiple hits going 2-for-3 with an RBI And Kimmy Singer collected two hits in three at-bats and drew a walk. 

Hannah Holloway started the game for GSW she pitched three innings allowing four hits and two earned runs. Savana Bradford improved to 9-1 on the season coming in relief tossing four innings allowing two hits and striking out five batters.

Game 2 W, 8-0 

Georgia Southwestern State softball scored eight runs and collected nine hits completing the series sweep of Flagler.

The Hurricanes got going early scoring four runs on three hits in the first inning. GSW would go on to score four additional runs in the game that would seal it for the Canes.

Four Hurricanes players had multiple hits in the game Pinette, Willis, Wood, and Duffey all recorded two hits in the five inning slugfest.

Zoe Willis had another solid performance offensively going 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a walk. She tossed a shutout pitching the complete five-inning game gave up two hits and struck out four batters.

The Hurricanes will be traveling to Rome, Ga. to face off against Shorter University (4-20) in midweek a doubleheader at the Alto Park Softball Complex 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday
