So Close Yet So Far

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern softball loses a nail bitter as they get swept by the University of North Georgia 7-6.

North Georgia drew first blood scoring one run in the first inning on a rbi double. GSW answered back with a run of their own in the top of the second.

UNG scored three runs in the third inning to put them out front 4-1. 

The score remained 4-1 until the top of the fifth when the Canes grabbed four hits and scored four runs to put them ahead of the Warhawks and gave GSW the momentum surge they needed.

As luck would have it UNG retaliated by scoring three runs that gave them back the lead.

GSW would not go down without a fight they scored in the seventh inning on a Zoe Willis home run but it was too little too late the UNG closed out the game winning by one run.

Kimmy Singer earned three hits in the game and scored a run, Zoe Willis as usual had a good game going 2-for4 with two RBIs and the home run in the seventh.

Savanna Bradford started the game she tossed three innings gave up four earned runs Hanah Holloway pitched three scoreless innings in relief duty she fell to 3-3 on the season.

 GSW will return home for a midweek doubleheader to take on Albany State (16-9, 9-3) first pitch 3:00 p.m. Tuesday night at Lady canes Field.
