Willis Drives in Five Runs in PBC Tournament Win Over Georgia College

DAHLONEGA, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University softball team faced off against Georgia College and State in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference tournament.

GSW scored three runs in the first inning two of which came on a Zoe Willis home run the other being an error that scored Ansley Duffey.

Georgia College took the lead in the second inning as they scored four runs on three hits and two GSW errors.

Georgia College did not lead for long the Hurricanes scored eight runs in the bottom of the inning as they retook the lead 11-4.

Georgia College fought back in the fifth inning adding another five runs and cutting the GSW lead 11-9. 

Willis made the comeback much tougher for the Bobcats by hitting a two-run home run and extending the lead 13-9.

Each team would score one more run as the Canes defeated the Bobacts for the fourth consecutive time in the season 14-10.

Willis had a great game going 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs GSW collected 16 hits for the game as six players recorded multiple hits.

 Pitcher Savanna Bradford earned her 18th win despite giving up seven earned runs, Hannah Holloway recorded her first save of the season.

GSW will take on USC Aiken in the double elimination PBC tournament first pitch 12:00 p.m. on Saturday hosted by North Georgia.
