Keeping Up With The Joneses; Canes Defeat Bob Jones 2-1

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's soccer team won their second consecutive match, handing Bob Jones University its first loss of the season, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon.

Geraldine Alvarez scored her first goal of the season nearly 15 minutes into the match that gave the Lady Hurricanes the early 1-0 lead.

Much like their last match GSW benefitted from an own goal commited by the Bruins. It is the third own goal in two matches for the Lady Hurricanes.

The Bruins (8-1-5) counterattacked scoring a goal in the final 17 minutes that reduced the Georgia Southwestern lead to one goal.

GSW held the lead for the remainder of the match winning 2-1.  

Alana Beddow saved five shots and was very solid between the pipes for the Lady Hurricanes.

GSW (5-7-3, 2-4-2 PBC) will continue their three match road trip to face Middle Georgia (4-9-3) in a non-conference match at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
