AMERICUS - The Georgia Southwestern tennis teams were swept by Columbus State University on Wednesday afternoon at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. Both the men's and women's matches ended with a score of 9-0.

The GSW men are 3-9 overall this spring, 0-7 in Peach Belt Conference play while the women are 5-10 and 1-8 in the PBC.

Jake Koonce won the first set for GSW at No. 2 singles before eventually falling in a 10-point tiebreaker that decided the match.

Abel Acuna and Joel Landis played the closest doubles match for the Hurricanes, falling 8-6 to Maciej Kierkus and Derrick Taylor at No 3.

The women had their hands full with the 6th-ranked Lady Cougars. Sydnee Smith won four games in her match at No. 5 singles to have the best showing for GSW. Carly Cangelosi took two games off the 2nd-ranked player in NCAA Division II, Paola Cigui.

The GSW women travel to Clark Atlanta on Thursday for a 1:30 p.m. match before returning to join the men and host Flagler at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
