Taboada & Del Castillo Perfect; GSW Comes Up Short Against West Georgia

AMERICUS - Maria Taboada and Celia del Castillo teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles before the tandem split off into singles play and picked up a pair of victories for Georgia Southwestern on Friday afternoon against the University of West Georgia, but the visiting Wolves rallied to defeat GSW, 5-4, at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex.  

The Lady Hurricanes No. 3 doubles team of Anneliese Leahy and Kendall Crew won, 8-2, to give GSW a 2-1 lead heading into singles action, but West Georgia picked up wins in four of the final six matches to escape with the team victory.

With the team score at 4-3 in favor of UWG and del Castillo up in the third set of her battle, the decisive match was at No. 6 singles where Leahy lost a tight 6-4, 7-5 showdown with Jamie Bryant.

The Lady Hurricanes are home Sunday to host Albany State at 1 p.m.
