AMERICUS, Ga. -- The Georgia Southwestern State University women's tennis team hosted Lander university Saturday. Lander defeated the Hurricanes, 5-2.

The Hurricanes best singles performance went to Madeline Barnes who won both of her sets 6-1, and won the tie break 10-5.

Also due to a withdraw from a Lander player Maya Boynton won her set.

The best doubles performance by the hurricanes went to Madeline Barnes and Lina Benjelloun who won their set, 6-1.

The Hurricanes will travel to Columbus, Ga for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament as they face top-seeded Flagler College at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the John W Walden Tennis Center
