Levering to Lead GSW Women's Tennis

AMERICUS, Ga. -- Georgia Southwestern State University has named Karlie Levering as its new head women's tennis coach. Levering will also serve as GSW's student-athlete services coordinator.

Levering spent the last six years at GSW serving as the volunteer assistant softball coach. Prior to her arrival in Americus, she was the assistant softball coach at South Georgia State College (2016) and a graduate assistant softball coach at her alma mater, the University of North Georgia, where she helped lead UNG to its first ever national championship at the 2015 NCAA Division II Tournament in Oklahoma City. The UNG coaching staff was recognized as the 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association National Coaching Staff of the Year after the program posted a 54-8 record. The staff was also inducted into the UNG Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021.

Levering had success playing softball on the collegiate level as well. She was a standout for UNG teams that made NCAA appearances in 2012 and 2013 and was selected to Peach Belt All-Conference First Team in 2012 after leading the squad with a .329 batting average while hitting seven home runs.

Levering received both her undergraduate (2014) and graduate (2016) degrees from North Georgia in physical education and leadership.
