DAWSON - Saturday was a good day for Jessi Young. The Georgia Southwestern freshman from Cochran won her first collegiate event as she captured the individual title at the Darton Invite at Skiles Farm after crossing the finish line in a career-best time of 20:41.

GSW grabbed its second runner-up finish of the fall at the four-team event. 

Lisa Espino finished second for the Lady Hurricanes with a time of 22:03, good for ninth place overall.

Micah Bucher grabbed the third slot for the Lady Hurricanes, crossing the finish line 13th overall at 22:57.

Mollie McGowan, Nakora Mackey and Linda Esparza finished back-to-back-to-back for the 16th through 18th spots. Kaitlin Wilkinson took 25th.

With 29 points, host Darton State College won the team title. 

Young finished four seconds ahead of Natalya Miller from Chipola College.

Southwestern travels to the Point Invitational on Friday.
