WEST POINT, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern cross country team finished in third place out of nine teams at the Point Invitational hosted by Point University on Friday evening. Jessi Young paced the Lady Hurricanes by finishing the 5K course in 20:09 for third place out of 67 competitors.

Lisa Espino crossed the finish line second for GSW with a time of 22:03, good for 18th place, while Daria Woods was the third GSW runner across the line in 22:26. Linda Esparza finished 25th overall by finishing in 22:36 and Raven Martin took 28th in 23:00. Mikaela Shimko posted a time of 24:13.

With 35 points, Brenau University edged out the host, Point (62), for the team title. 

Susana Marquez from Point crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 19:36.

The Lady Hurricanes return to action Oct. 26 when they host the Peach Belt Conference Championships at the Sumter County Parks & Recreation Sports Complex.
