CARROLLTON, Ga. - The Georgia Southwestern cross country team finished fourth out of six teams at the University of West Georgia Invitational on Saturday morning. Ashleigh Owens paced the Lady Hurricanes by finishing the 5K course in 20:49 for 12th place out of 49 competitors.

Victoria Hickom crossed the finish line second for GSW with a time of 22:17, good for 23rd place, while Shelby Parsekian was the third GSW runner across the line in 22:33. Daria Woods finished 30th overall finishing in 22:46. Lauren Ard was on Woods' heels, placing a slot behind in 31st, two seconds behind. Anna Kate Shaw followed in 23:35 and Anneliese Leahy posted a time of 25:01.

Morgan Laushey from UWG crossed the finish line first overall with a time of 19:07.

With its runners grabbing the second through eighth positions overall, Union University (20 points) separated from host West Georgia (46) for the team title. GSW (106) was edged out by Darton State College (104) for third place.

The Lady Hurricanes return to action Friday, Oct. 24, when they travel to Columbus, Ga., for a dual meet with Columbus State.
