Cross Country Adds Ross For 2015

AMERICUS - Georgia Southwestern head women's cross country coach Brittney Skiles has announced the signing of Savannah Ross from Haralson County High School in Tallapoosa, Ga., for the 2015 season.

Ross placed sixth at the 2014 Georgia High School Association Region 5-AAA cross country meet, making her the first girl to go to state in HCHS history.

In her first race of the 2015 track & field season, Ross set a new personal record and HSHS record in the 1600 meter with a time of 5:55. She ran the 800 meter throughout the season and was the GHSA Region 5-AAA champion. In addition, Ross averaged a time of 1:08 as the fourth leg on the state-qualifying 4x400 team.

At sectionals Ross broke her own record in the 1600 meters with a time of 5:52 to become the first girl from HCHS to go to state in the 1600 meter race and her 4x400 team was the first to qualify as well.

The Lady Hurricanes return four freshmen from a 2014 roster that featured no upperclassmen.
