AMERICUS, Ga. – The 2011 Georgia Southwestern men's soccer season centered around a thrilling two-week span, which included the team's battle for its first-ever PBC Tournament appearance. While the Hurricanes fell short of their post season goals, the man who propelled the attack for much of the season was awarded for his efforts.

Senior midfield Shane McKay was named to the 2011 PBC Men's Soccer All-Conference Second Team. McKay appeared in all 16 matches this season, starting in 15 of them. He led the team with five goals and single-handedly kept the Blue & Gold in the playoff hunt in the month of October.

After tallying two goals in the Hurricanes' first two games of the season, McKay would tally three goals in one week in October. The Sheffield, England native would score the equalizer and the go-ahead goal in the early going of the second half at Clayton State. The Lakers would eventually come back to defeat the Hurricanes 4-3, but not after being forced to overcome McKay's two goals in two minutes and 19 seconds.

McKay would his third goal of the week three days later against Lander. His goal in the 56th minute against the Bearcats would force GSW's first-ever draw against a PBC opponent.

The senior captain is the third Hurricane to receive post-season honors in the program's young history. His all-conference accolades follow Sam Hooke's Second Team All-Conference Defender award in 2010.
