Brown Finishes Top 10, GSW Fourth at UWG

CARROLLTON, Ga. — Freshman Allie Brown continued her great start to the season as she led the Georgia Southwestern State University women's cross country team for the second consecutive race and helped the Hurricanes finish fourth out of 13 schools at the Coach Gary Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia on Saturday morning.

Brown, who finished 10th overall out of 103 runners, paced the Lady Hurricanes by completing the 5K course in 20:38.56. Junior Sarah Earley crossed the finish line second for GSW on Saturday with a time of 21:37.27, good for 26th place. Senior Madaline Toth rounded out GSW's top 3 finishers and took 46th place with a time of 23:53.85. 

North Georgia won the event as the Nighthawks had runners finish in second through eighth place and earned a cumulative score of 20 points to comfortably separate from runner-up Dalton State (56 points). Dalton State runner Kathryn Vradenburgh crossed the line first overall with a time of 19:19.74.

The Lady Hurricanes return to action on Oct. 2 at the ASICS Cross Country Invitational in Fairburn, Ga.
