    The men's basketball team had every intention of playing the role of spoiler in a must-win game for Columbus State on Wednesday evening in the Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center by jumping out to a 15-point first half lead, but CSU rallied to defeat the Hurricanes, 88-75. GSW had its best night of the season from long range, draining 11 of 22 attempts (50 percent) from beyond the arc, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Cougars.

    The men's basketball team suffered a 63-53 loss on its Senior Night in the Storm Dome Wednesday against Georgia College. GSW had two of its five starters held scoreless, but Cameron Clayton notched a game-high 18 points while Tyrone Wooten and Cameron Dozier added 14 and 11 points respectively. Wooten pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds to post his fourth double-double in the last six games.

    GSW suffered a 74-68 defeat Saturday afternoon against the University of Montevallo in the Storm Dome. Devin Watson dropped in 22 points behind 8 of 13 shooting and added six rebounds along with a game-high three blocks to lead GSW. Tyrone Wooten added 15 points and a team-best seven boards. Brandon Price scored 12 points.

    The men's basketball team struggled from long range Monday evening in the Storm Dome, making just one of 17 attempts from beyond the arc, but a scrappy defensive effort kept the Hurricanes within striking distance of Columbus State before running out of time in a 60-54 loss.

    Sophomore guard Devin Watson poured in a career-high 25 points Saturday evening in the Storm Dome as the Hurricanes held off the University of North Georgia in overtime, 95-89. North Georgia knocked down three consecutive 3-pointers in the closing 16 seconds of regulation to force extra time, but Rakeem Hicks sank a 3-pointer in OT and threw down a big follow-up in the closing minute to help get the win.

    The GSW men suffered a 66-63 defeat Wednesday evening against the University of Montevallo in Trustmark Arena. Tevin Wise led the Hurricanes in scoring for the second straight game. Wise dropped in 22 points behind 8 of 13 shooting, including 6 of 11 from beyond the arc. Brandon Price added 21 points. Cameron Clayton pulled down a career-best 10 rebounds.

    GSW suffered an 83-78 double overtime defeat Friday evening against Lander University in Finis Horne Arena. The Hurricanes won the battle on the boards for only the second time this season (44-43), made more shots (29-26), and hit more 3-pointers (13-8), but Lander held a substantial edge in free throws made (23-7) and bench points (24-5).

    Senior guard Brandon Price scored a game-high 30 points on Monday afternoon in the Storm Dome, but it wasn't enough as the Hurricanes dropped a Peach Belt Conference tilt against UNC Pembroke, 78-62. Price scored 17 consecutive points for GSW in the second half as the Hurricanes tried to mount a comeback after falling behind by 21.

    Cameron Dozier scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Hurricanes past Francis Marion, 80-76, Saturday afternoon in the Storm Dome. It was the Peach Belt Conference opener for both schools. GSW improved its record to 3-1 at home, 3-5 overall, as the Hurricanes never trailed en route to their second consecutive victory and the first conference win for first-year head coach Ben Hicks.

    Double-doubles by senior guards Cameron Dozier and Tyrone Wooten spurred GSW to a 74-63 victory over Fort Valley State on Wednesday evening in the Storm Dome. Dozier poured in 24 first-half points en route to a game-high 30 to go with his 11 rebounds and Wooten posted a game-high 14 boards to go with 11 points.

    Devin Watson topped his career-best scoring night in one half on Monday night as he poured in 16 points over the final 20 minutes at Emmanuel, but it wasn't enough to help the Hurricanes overcome a seven-point halftime deficit and GSW fell, 83-73. Brandon Price added 13 in the second half.

    The Hurricanes took a break from their regular season schedule to face NCAA Division I foe Georgia State University on Saturday afternoon in the GSU Sports Arena. The size and strength of the Panthers proved to be too much for the Hurricanes to overcome as Georgia State rolled to an 83-52 victory.
  • Middle Georgia Wins The Final 10 Minutes, Defeats GSW, 78-71

    In a game that saw seven ties and 11 lead changes, neither side was able to open a double-digit lead and most stat categories were close to even. Rebounds favored Middle Georgia, 43-41. Assists were even, 15-15. GSW committed one more turnover, 17-16. The Hurricanes made one more field goal, 30-29. The glaring difference was at the charity stripe where the Knights made 11 more than GSW.
