  • Cougars Claw Victory in Front of Raucous Storm Dome Crowd

    Columbus State never trailed and took advantage of 31 points from its bench to defeat the GSW men's basketball team, 89-82, in the Storm Dome on Wednesday evening. The Hurricanes suffered back-to-back losses at home for the first time this season to fall to 8-9 overall and 3-8 in the Peach Belt Conference. CSU won for the fourth time in its last five games to improve to 12-7 overall and 7-4 in the PBC.
  • Braves Bang for Boards to Beat GSW

    UNC Pembroke pulled down 19 more rebounds than the GSW men's basketball team on Saturday afternoon to control the pace of the game and hand the Hurricanes an 88-72 loss in the Storm Dome. GSW suffered only its second loss at home this season (7-2) to fall to 8-8 overall, 3-7 PBC. UNC Pembroke won its fourth straight game to improve to 14-4 overall, 8-2 PBC.
  • Hurricanes Suffer Back-to-Back Losses Following Lander Upset

    A pair of second half breakdowns led to back-to-back losses for the Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball team this week. GSW suffered its first home loss of the season on Wednesday when the University of North Georgia erased a seven-point deficit in the final two and a half minutes to force overtime and went on to defeat the Hurricanes, 72-65. On Saturday at Flagler College, a tied game at halftime turned into a one-sided affair as the Saints defeated GSW, 109-77.
  • Canes Rally From 18 Down to Remain Unbeaten at Home

    The Georgia Southwestern State University men's basketball team outscored Lander University by 21 points in the second half to rally for an 89-86 Peach Belt Conference victory in the Storm Dome on Saturday evening. With the win, Georgia Southwestern improves its record to 5-0 at home this season, 6-3 overall.
  • Convocation Center Curse Continues

    The GSW men's basketball team remains winless in the Convocation Center after an 83-68 loss at USC Aiken on Saturday afternoon. The Hurricanes fall to 0-13 all-time in the building - including postseason contests - and 0-10 as the road team in the series with the Pacers. 
  • Hurricanes Drop Conference Opener

    The GSW men's basketball team opened Peach Belt Conference play with a 77-68 loss at Augusta University on Thursday night in the Christenberry Fieldhouse, a building that has not been kind over the years to squads from Americus. The Hurricanes only victory in Christenberry Fieldhouse came in Feb. 2007. GSW is 1-9 all-time in the series as the road team and 2-17 overall against Augusta.

  • Monstrous Comeback Falls Short

    The GSW men's basketball team cut a 21-point second half deficit to three points with under two minutes to play, but could not complete the comeback and suffered its first loss of the season, 72-66, at Albany State University on Monday in the ASU West Campus Arena.

    Soloman Thomas connected on six first-half 3-pointers en route to a game-high 31 points to lead the GSW men's basketball team past Fort Valley State, 89-62, Monday evening in the Storm Dome.

    Soloman Thomas scored 23 of his game-high 35 points over the final 20 minutes to lead the GSW men's basketball team past Brewton-Parker College, 98-76, Monday evening in the Storm Dome.

    Reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week Jamari Dean did not disappoint the home fans as he turned in his third consecutive double-double with game highs in points (18) and rebounds (16) to keep the Hurricanes undefeated at 3-0 this season.

    GSW has hired Aaron Coombs as its new head men's basketball coach. Coombs comes to GSW from Oklahoma Panhandle State University where he completed his first season at the helm for the Aggies. In his lone season in Goodwell, Coombs guided OPSU to a 16-14 overall record, and the program earned a conference playoff berth for the first time since the 2005-06 season.
