    GSW infielder Alex Kranick earned honorable mention on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) 2017 All-Southeast Region baseball team. He becomes the first player in program history to earn postseason recognition from the NCBWA.
  • Alderman Named To PBC All-Tournament Baseball Team

    Senior outfielder Evan Alderman went 6-for-11 (.545) over the Hurricanes three games in the tournament with a double, two runs batted in and four walks.

    GSW led North Georgia, 5-1, in the fourth inning, but the 2nd-ranked Nighthawks closed the door on an upset with three runs in the eighth to defeat the Hurricanes, 10-6, on Wednesday evening in the first round of the 2017 Peach Belt Conference Tournament.

    Zach Barron delivered a two-run home run in the eighth inning to halt an Albany State University comeback and propel GSW to a 7-4 win Tuesday evening at the ASU Baseball Complex. Freshman A.J. Hayes (1-1) picked up the first win of his collegiate career with two innings on the hill.
  • Hurricanes Win Series Opener At No. 22 Georgia College, Await Postseaon Fate

    GSW jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the second inning on Friday evening at John Kurtz Field and held on late to upend No. 22 Georgia College, 7-5, in Game 1 of their Peach Belt weekend baseball series. The Bobcats defended their home turf on Saturday, handing GSW a pair of losses to close out the weekend. The Hurricanes finished 10-14 in the Peach Belt, in a tie for eighth place, and must wait until Sunday for confirmation of their postseason conference tournament bid. For GSW, picking up even one road win against the 22nd-ranked team in the country was impressive as it was only the third loss Georgia Collgege suffered at home in 24 games this season.

    GSW Baseball was swept by Armstrong State University on Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Hurricane Stadium. Armstrong won Game 1, 16-6, and Game 2, 7-3.

    The Hurricanes rallied from four runs down in the seventh to force an extra inning and then topped Armstrong State University's two runs in the 10th with a walk-off infield single from Zach Barron to win the opening game of the Peach Belt Conference series, 11-10, on Friday evening at Hurricane Stadium. Will Redding turned in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate, along with Alex Kranick and Jonathan Martin.

    GSW rallied from four runs down in the fifth inning with a seven-run barrage and took a lead to the eighth, only to have Valdosta State answer with two runs late and hand the Hurricanes a 12-11 loss Wednesday evening. Alex Kranick wasted little time stamping his name in the GSW record book as the senior led off the game with a single to center field to extend his hitting streak to 20 games, tying the school record.

    Junior pitcher Jordan McIlwain held No. 9 Francis Marion to one run over 8 1/3 innings Saturday afternoon in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Hurricane Stadium and Zach Barron provided a walk-off single to give GSW a 2-1 series-clinching win. Francis Marion scored five runs in the ninth inning of Game 2 to salvage a win in the series, 12-8.

    The GSW baseball team lost its Peach Belt series opener at Augusta University on Friday evening, 10-5, before storming back on Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of the Jaguars, 8-5 and 4-0, to win the three-game set at Lake Olmstead Stadium. Evan Alderman led GSW batters with a .462 average over the series and Dylan Brown turned in a stellar performance in the finale, taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning.
